Im getting braces in 11 days... i'm told it will take an hour and a quarter and wil hurt like h**l.

Is it true or do people just exagerate? im really worried!!!!!

The actual event of putting them on is simple...just takes some time of sitting there.  The part that hurts is after they are on, your teeth are very tender and it is difficult to eat for a day or two, but you do adapt and adjust to it, and then no problem.  That pain returns each time you go in to get them tightened.  good luck!

it doesnt hurt at all. all they do is:

make u put googles on

put glue on a tooth

put a bracket on that tooth

put the ruberband on the tooth

and they repeat for and hr and half

it doesnt hurt at all! trust me

ITS JUST GLUE

dont worry it wont hurt at all but before they put them on they put some disgusting things in ur mouth then put the braces it wont take long ethier but it might hurt the first few day u have them on :)

It'll hurt some more so depending on what you eat later. Get ready to salivate and spit quite a bit when you first leave.

My daughter (11 years old) just had braces put on her upper teeth this morning.  She took some motrin before her appointment and said it really didn't hurt that much.  It was mostly just uncomfortable.  It is starting to ache a little more as the day goes on - but she's not in extreme pain or anything like that.  Don't worry - I'm sure you'll do fine.

those people r exaggerating. it wont hurt once u get them on but for the next 2-3 days they will be a little sore. all u need to do is eat soft foods and take Advil or Tylenol or IB Profen and it will help a lot!!!

oh my god! people are so stupid. it WILL NOT hurt like h**l...for me it didnt even hurt after i got them on. i mean, they felt sensitive but i didnt feel pain...and i didnt feel the sensitivity until like a day or two later.

for me, i remmeber iot took a long time to get them on. i got top and bottom on at the same time and it took a bit over 2 hours i think.

poeple tend to exagerate about the pain, yes.

and for the time? well it depends if you get both on at the same time like me or if you just get tiop or bottom put on at a time...other things come into play like if theyre very busy that day..

it does take a while though.

anyways, i know youre scared right now but believe me, youll live through it, youll do great, and youll have perfect teeth!!!

I just got my braces and the hour to get them on is true but if you take some pain medicine when it starts hurting or being really bothersome you'll be alright, the pain(annoyance)  will go away completely in a week.

It does take awhile, but the only pain you feel is just a general tightness, and thats more once you have them on, not really when they are putting them there.

Recommendations:

- bring chapstick. Your mouth will be open for awhile, but if you keep applying chapstick throughout the process it shouldn't bother you

- take an advil or two before or after (just to help with the soreness you will experience after)

- stock up on jello!
