  1. When you get braces they are not going to hurt!! Just when you are done getting them your teeth will hurt a little for the next three to four days. Take same pain reliever and you'll be good. When you are getting them on there might be a little pressure on your teeth!!!

  2. It's not a massage, I'll tell you that.  Just make sure to take Advil/Tylenol.

  3. they will hurt at first for a few weeks and you will be living on soup but after that they will be fine and you can eat anything (gum not recomended)

  4. yupp, your teeth feel kinda loose and it hurts when they tighten them.

  5. Yes, they do. However, the extent of your dental work really depends on it. I needed an operation for my wisdom teeth to be taken out, 2 adult premolars taken out, 2 teeth reconstructed, braces with metal band for 2 1/2 years, and upcoming jaw surgery at Christmas. I had virtually all of that done - bar the latter - within 2 months, and it was h**l. I lost a stone because not only was it too tender and sore to eat, but I was in pain the whole time.

For someone who's just getting braces, it will be sore. It literally feels like tooth pain on all your teeth and that they're all wobbly. Eating hard foods can be difficult for the first few weeks, but then you get used to it. They can also be sore just after they've been tightened, but it's nothing like how it is when you first get them on. Just remember how lovely your teeth will look when it's all over :)

  6. well i got braces.... they hurt for about a week or soo or at least until u get used to them.... eat mac and cheese when you first get them =] its makes them feel soooooooooo much better

  7. they are bad for the first couple days, and whenever you get the wire tightened but other than that everything will be fine, also the retainer you will get after you get the braces off will be a bit of a pain for a little while aswell, but not too bad

  8. for the first few days yes but after that it won't hurt much

  9. Getting them on won't hurt. About an hour later, they will start to hurt.

For some people its not too bad, but for me it really was. You just have to push through it. The worst of the pain only lasts a couple of days.

For the first two days I could only eat things like yogurt and ice cream, then I started eating soft food like muffins and bread. After about five days you should be completely back to normal.

Every once in a while you'll get some pain, and your mouth will be sore after you get them tightened but it won't be as bad as the first time.

So yes, it hurts, but its bearable.

  10. I just got mine, and it doesn't hurt getting them on. Its hard to chew for a couple days though. It isn't nearly as bad as getting wisdom teeth pulled though.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say to be carful when you brush your teeth... don't brush too hard like I did!

  11. I'm going to plagiarize from my other post here-

'Okees, I've been wearing 'em for two months. Speaking with experience.

They put something to hold your mouth open, yeah, but it didn't hurt me at all. It's not bad at all- that's not the biggest problem.

The actual process doesn't hurt much- he'll put slight pressure on your teeth and all that, but it's not a lasting pain until...

After you get it, it begins to hurt about an hour later. The brackets break up your gums, the wire will as well, and it'll be pretty hellish for a while. Take painkillers like oragel, advil, and tylenol. I got used to it about two, three weeks later.

Eat soft foods that can't get stuck in your braces or break them- soup is always a plus, and salmon or mac n' cheese is good. Soft fish is good too. Whatever you do, don't eat gum or anything chewy. Meat isn't a good idea either, and I personally couldn't eat pizza whole for another month.

The process? In all, it takes about two hours, maybe a bit more. First they put a tube in your mouth to suck up the saliva (doesn't hurt at all, don't worry) and then they clean your teeth. For me, they put a UV-light activated glue on each of the braces. They'd put a bracket on, then shine this UV light on my teeth. It was actually pretty cool, except the UV thing looked like a gun. Anyway, he just repeats that for a while, then when all the brackets are on, he'll put the wire in. The wire will poke the sides of your mouth until he bends it in, just warning you. Me, I was lucky enough to have the brackets and wire put on a week apart, so I could get used to it. Sort of.

I started getting the rubber bands about a month later, once I was used to the braces themselves. There's a chance you won't even need the bands, but many people do. The bands make your teeth kinda sore for a day or two, but then you get used to those. My problem is I keep losing them XD

Personally, I entertained myself by watching every move the orthodontist made and analyzing, me being scientific. Some offices have TVS. Other than that, all you really can do is twiddle your thumbs and daydream.

Good luck, hope this helps :)'

  12. The first day your mouth is sore, but after that it doesn't hurt.

  13. Sorry to say this but YEAH they will hurt (only for the first couple of days).  The first time I got braces I was probably 11 going on 12, and they would hurt every evening shortly after getting braces.  It's a bit tough brushing your teeth, but you'll get used to it.  It'll be tough eating certain things.

Here's a website where you can read about what to eat and what NOT to eat with braces.  PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY and go over it with your mother / father / guardian.
