  1. Hi I love planning weddings if you still need some help let me know and I will help you with whatever I can.

  2. Look for wedding planning books at a local bookstore or try theknot.com.

    Lots of tips for everything!

    Good Luck and Congrats!

  3. the knot is good but there is a great check list on weddingwire.com

and the time line to do so!

Target's bridal registry gives you something in the mail if you register with them!

  4. Are you wanting a big or small wedding?  Church, JP or outdoors? Sit down dinner. buffet, a small bbq with close family and friends?  Start with how many guests do you want to invite and what style do you want the reception to be.  Lots of ideas on theknot.com.  It can help you with everything. Color, decorations, flowers, etc. It even has a helpful budget sheet and guest listing.  You can login in for free and it will count down the days to your wedding and keep you updated on the things you need to get done.

  5. If you would like some tips on wedding music then check out -

    http://www.romantic-wedding-music.com/pl...

  6. Check out www.theknot.com

    It's very helpful.

  7. You can try an online wedding planner that is free www.myweddingday.com is nice they give you a deadline and calender and everything.

if you just want a list you need:

    Invitations (save the date cards)

    cake

    flowers

    location for wedding

    location for reception

dress (veil, hair piece, shoes accessories)

    tux for groom

bridesmaids and groomsmen dresses and tuxes

    someone to preform the wedding

caterers (or do a pot luck where the family brings food or do [like me] no food, just cake and punch)

photographer (videographer if you want someone to video tape it also)

  8. It's really hard to summarize everything you need to know to plan a wedding in one answer here. The best that any of us can do is refer you to sites that are geared toward brides that come with time lines, checklists, etc.

As others have said, theknot.com is great, as is brides.com. You could go to your local Borders or Barnes and Noble, both of which have a wedding section, and  take notes from various book (don't buy them, though, they're expensive and not worth it - but they DO help you to get started).

The things you'll need to start with are picking your date, venue and major vendors like caterer (if your venue is not full service), photographer and videographer if you want one. Theknot.com has a list of local vendors, so that will be a good place to start.

Also, start thinking about the style you want for your wedding. For example, traditional or modern? Casual or elegant? Beach or hotel? The style you want will help you choose the venue and your dress (and really, everything else) because you'll want to keep some consistency. Just stay away from "themes" because they can become to gimmicky.

Hope that helps, hun. Congratulations on your engagement! Wedding planning is really stressful (I don't have a planner, either), but it's really fun, too. Just keep in mind that when things start to go wrong (they will, no matter what), that the point of the day is that you're marrying a person you love. That keeps things in perspective when if feels like things are falling apart.

    Best of luck!

  9. theknot.com is great and weddingwire.com has this nice online planner that I've been using.  I also made spreadsheets of everything I need to buy and totaled up the costs for everything. I made another spreadsheet to keep track of all my wedding guests, sent invitations and RSVP's.

I know how you feel, it can be hard to know where to start! I felt horrible and stressed until I used weddingwire.com.

  10. Congrats .. Theknot.com is a great website. However here are some things you need to plan

    Location, Church or where?

Do you need someone to officiate the wedding?

    Reception Where?

Food for Reception. does the place you have your reception do their own food or do you need a caterer?

    Day and Time of event

    Cake

    Flowers

    Invites

    DJ or Live band?

    Wedding Party

    Your Dress

    Wedding Party's outfits

    Rings

    Alcohol or no Alcohol

    Limo or no Limo
