Im getting my braces off! is a removeable retainer the same as a permanent one? ?

if not why? if you get a removable one do they give you more than one or just one? if you gat a permanent one do you still get your teeth tightend every month?

  1. no permanent and removeable retainers are not the same thing. you don't get more than one pair of retainers unless you lose it or you want a spare but you would still have to pay extra. i'm not really sure if you need to get your teeth tightened every month if you get permanent retainers but i doubt it.

    i have a removable retainer and it is really annoying because i have to brush it every night/morning. and for the first year that i got retainers i had to wear it the whole day everyday for a year. i've had removable retainers for about three-four years now and i only wear it at night.

    as for the permanent retainers, i would have preferred it but my mom, who is a dentist said that it would be easier for plague to get caught on it and would cause cavities.


  2. you only get one removable retainer, you will wear it for most of the day/night (you're supposed to wear it more then 12 hours a day) and it will help hold the teeth in their new position. it looks different and is easier to wear it, so there is no need to worry.
