Im getting my pet mice today! hav you got any last minute tips?

im getting them this evening and were going to buy a cage today, any suggstions to what they should have? names are good aswell, two does, one brown tan, other brown and white mix. thankyou!!!

Congratulations on your new pet!

When buying mice in pairs you should be careful to buy either two females or two males. Mice produce extremely quickly and need to be kept apart, so buying two of the same s*x works out best.

Make sure you have an ample supply of sawdust, as well as a good quality food and water bowl. Mice tend to chew on the objects in their cage, so you need to get good quality. Also make sure that there are plenty of objects to keep them entertained, such as a wheel or a ladder and platform.

My last word of advice I will now give you is to make sure the cage is out of the way. Mice cages smell rather bad, and if you have visitors they might find it offensive. If you can't find a nice and quiet spot to put the cage then an automatic air freshener also works a treat :)

Hi i think good names would be: Tinker(Tinky)! And sandy,or Maple and syrup!? Or finally hazel and chloe? And for tips, Logs(small pet sized ones!) that you can buy in most petshops are great for mice! Or plastic/wooden hamster toy cars are good and cute! For healthly treats you can give them,Peanuts in their cases(In small amounts as some mice and rats are allergic to them) Or Cornflakes,or Non sugar seed sticks! You can also buy mouse sweet treats,personally i don't give these as i don't thinks its right,but if you want you can.

I suggest using that carboard type recycled stuff for the bottom of the cage, because they SMELL something severe if you dont clean the cage out every day.

The cardboard pellets soak up the wee and water etc, instead of letting it drain through and dirty the bottom of the cage.

Make sure they have a hidey hole, cause they will be really scared.

But yeah, remember to clean the cage, cause they can get skin diseases.

As a father might I suggest you do not do as my kids did over the years...get them out to pet them, then get distracted . You will finish up with a population of mice that live under the floor boards.
