  1. The surgery takes approx. 30 minutes to 1 hour.  You will go to the recovery room after surgery, and then to another area, and then you will go home.

You will be sore for several days.  I am sure the doctor will give you pain medications.

The first few days you will be eating very soft food.  Things like ice cream, jello, etc.  Then eventually you will add more solid food as you can tolerate it.

You should be able to go back to school the following day if you feel like it.

  2. I had this surgery two times already and for different people some may heal faster than others depending on there health. For me it took me about 1 week until I was not sore and I could talk again.

  3. You'll be under for about 30+ minutes, which is the amount of time the procedure takes (roughly).  It'll take some time after that before you actually wake up, so figure 1-2 hours before you're awake and about again.  You'll have a sore throat for 2-3 days, and there will be some restrictions on what you can eat and drink for a a day or two.  You can go back to school the next day (even the same afternoon, in theory, since this is often outpatient surgery), if you're aching to return to class.  You won't be able to drive for 12-24 hours because the sedative effect of the anesthetic has to completely wear off.

  4. I got mine out two springs ago. Mine and my twin sister's lasted exactly 30 minutes.  It hurts to swallow and my uvula was stretched but that went back to normal. You'll be sore for at least a week, maybe a little bit longer. It hurts to eat almost ANYTHING!!  i drank water the entire week. It also hurts to talk sometimes. I also noticed my voice got a bit higher. you talk funny for a bit too. You cant eat anything hard or scratchy like chips or pizza crust. Also spaghetti sauce burns like h**l.  I suppose you'll be out of school for a week, maybe a bit longer.

Hope I was of some help!

  5. The surgery shouldn't take long, maybe an hour at the most, but from the time they take you in to prep you till the time you leave could be up to two hours. Your recovery may take up to as long as three weeks, but you should be well enough to go to school in no more than a week as long as you take care of yourself. The number one thing is to stay hydrated. If it hurts to drink, try sucking on ice chips, and don't drink from a straw. Also, any kind of juice may cause more pain because of the acid. As for what to eat, start light, because most people feel at least a little queasy for a few hours to a day after having general anesthesia. Broth or jello are good choices, and once the nausea wears off, you can progress to things like yogurt and mashed potatoes.
