  1. A bounced check will automatically cause your installment agreement to default. If you don't responde to the default letter the account goes back into active collections where levies can occur. As someone else noted, a levy will take a huge bite out of your check. Unless you're ok with that, call the IRS immediately and re-establish your installment agreement.

  2. If you are paid every two weeks and single with one exemption, your take home pay will be $344.23 until the levy (not garnishment) is satisfied.  You might want to call IRS and attempt to make peace before getting cut down at the knees.

  3. how the heck are you getting your wages garnished? They usually give you a chance to pay it back voluntarily. If you fail to do that, then they will go ahead and garnish your wages.

I didn't even file for '05 until I sent in my '06, and i sent them in together. I owed like a total of 4100 for '05 and '06 and i told them i would pay them 75 a month. They said that was too low, so I said 80, and they said OK. So now i send them a check for 80 once a month and its now down to 1700 (because of tax rebate and a good tax refund last year). If I want an extra 80 once in a while i will just skip a payment. But they never said they would garnish my wages.

Thats weird they are deciding to garnish yours so soon.

  4. I don't know how much IRS will garnish from your wages but I do know you can still  call IRS at 1-800-829-7650 and try to make a payment plan again.  one insufficient check is not going to make IRS garnish your wages.  Non payment and ignoring IRS balance notice causes wage garnishment.

Call right now and work something out with them.

Don't ignore IRS, IRS can and will garnish you wages, place liens etc.
