“I’m glad to have him on our side of things,” says Joba Chamberlain for Kevin Youkilis
The New York Yankees relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain and former Boston Red Sox’s third baseman Kevin Youkilis had some on-field issues which persisted with several years.
However since Kevin Youkilis will be joining his former rival in the same time with the New York Yankees, Chamberlain is showing respect and speaking good about Youkilis.
“I’m glad to have him on our side of things,” Chamberlain said on MLB Network on Tuesday.
Chamberlain added, “We’re both grown men, we both like to play the game, We’ll continue to move. I’m glad he’s in our uniform hopefully he can hit a few balls to right field over the fence for us.”
This past Major League Baseball season, Chamberlain achieved consistent results and finished with 4.35 ERA along with 22 strikeouts and 1.55 WHIP. Overall he carries consistent career ERA of 3.73 along with four saves, 408 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP.
Kevin Youkilis has recently signed with the New York Yankees. He last played for the Chicago White Sox and did well. Before coming into the White Sox, he played for the Boston Red Sox for several years.
Now since he joined another club, some news came out in the media that his new beginning with the Yankees is not popular in Boston where his fans think that he should have not signed with the Yankees who are big rivals of Red Sox.
“You can’t control what people are going to think about you, you can control is what you’re doing in the game. I think over the years I’ve had a lot of Yankee fans come up to me and say ‘Hey, I’m a huge Yankee fan but I like the way you play the game,” Youkilis said recently on Red Sox’s fans’ reaction.
During his stay with the White Sox in the past Major League Baseball season, Youkilis played well and showed his true offensive class. He finished with great numbers of .235 hitting average along with 19 homers, 60 RBIs and .336 OBP.
Though he could have re-signed with the White Sox but he found Yankees deal more attractive and signed with them.
