  1. You will have the time of your life and love each minute of your vacation.  It is a wonderful way to vacation and I know you will have fun.  There is a site where you can take a virtual tour of the ship and here is the link so you can see what a great ship it is.:

There is all sorts of information on that site including what to do onboard, what to pack and what to expect.

Have a fantastic cruise, you are going to love it!  Mexico is fantastic and you are very lucky!

  2. I saw that ship docked at Cozumel when I was there. Cozumel is part of Mexico but is a large island away from the mainland. If you really want to see Mexico, you will have to book an excursion and be transported to the mainland, typically to the port at Playa Del Carmen. Mexico is H-O-T. You will see many vendors who have shops near the dock. They will all be begging you to come into their shop. No matter how polite you are they will still get upset with you, just keep saying no Gracias politely and move on. Your tour guides will take you to transportation and then off to your destination. Typically you will have one full day to see Mexico unless this ship is specifically going only to Mexico and staying for several days. It is an experience. The commerce is different, the way they make roads is different and their way of life is naturally different. Some things I saw that were ODD, were when they want to make a road they just bulldoze everything to the side, lay down some dirt and gravel, then concrete over it. You see this beautiful highway and all along the sides are fallen trees, and undergrowth. Another thing is your flying along at 100kph on the expressway and all of a sudden everyone stops dead. Speed bumps. They put them in the middle of the expressways about every 10 miles or so. Also as your flying along you will spot a military jeep along the side of the road with soliders in it. One will be standing in the back manning a huge M16 style machine gun. The towns are all rather poor. They don't believe in stop signs or traffic lights unless absolutely neccessary. The people were generally friendly. If your going to be able to stay for a few days, consider an all inclusive resort, you'll have much better fun and less stress.

  3. i think its better that you dont know what to expect.. its more fun that way ;)

  4. Mexico is fabulous - the only problem with going there as a cruise destination is that you dont get to experience the vibrant night life!

  5. Are you going from Los Angeles? It depends on which cruise you're taking. The 3 day to Ensenada and back is ok, although there's not much to the town. The 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise, I think, is much more enjoyable.

I hope you have a great time.

  6. I have worked on a cruise ship and went to Mexico every Friday for nine months!

I think the Fantasy is owned by Carnival so Im sure you will have a great time onboard. There are always pleanty of restaurants along with clubs, bars, theatre, casino, beauty salon - enough to keep you busy.

You do not say where you are going in Mexico - I docked in Cancun and Cozumel (which is an island off the coast of Mexico) both beautiful.

If in doubt as the crew members as they will know all the hot spots - especially the casino staff - they party hard!

Take your party clothes, swimming stuff and have a great time - anything you forget you can almost always get in the shops onboard. Pack some painkillers incase you have a huge hangover and some multivitamins. It's party time!
