Honestly, you shouldn't do either. Men who ge manicures typically get their nails buffed so they have a natural shine, not clear gloss. If your girlfriend tries to pressure you into getting pink nail polish, then you need to run the other way. FAST.

I would suggest that you stick to a clear coat, but if you must get a color as well, try to pick one that's as close to your natural color as possible. Or, just have the manicurist paint your nails black!
