  1. Location, location, location

On east coast evrything from eels (natural/ artificial),clams, crabs, squid,

    & plugs like striper swipers.

Usually same for piers & surf but depends on what bait is in the water they are passing through.

Ask around in the area you will be fishing.

  2. I'm on the west coast and for my striper fishing, i use a berkley saltwater swim shad with a 1/2 oz. to 3/4 oz. jig head (depends on depth and water condition. I'm using the shad with a light blue stripe on the top. Another good productive bait in chopped sardines. I cut them up into about 1 inch cubes and put it on a hook. Depending on water condition, attach a BB-sized split shot about 2 feet up from the bait.

    Good luck and tight lines!

  3. it depends where you located...east coast/west coast etc...lures work great but mainly in the mornings and evenings...so for the rest of the day its just bait...swimbaits, zoomflukes, hair raisers work great ...and salt water spooks and pencil popers work great for top water action...when they attack this...you love it....water splashes and pops all over it....
