  1. The big ones they want you to have are measles and mumps.  Probably polio too.  The chicken pox vaccine wasn't common when I went off to college, so I don't know if they want that one too.

They make you get them because you will be in a building with several hundred other people, and using the same showers and such with dozens of others.  Contagious diseases go nuts in that environment.

  2. You probably already have gotten a lot of the shots you need (Hep, Measles, Mumps, etc) so you just need to bring documentation of them to school (doctor-provided paperwork that says you got them and when).  I also need to get a TB screening for my school, which is just a test.  It'll probably just be a normal exam with a couple shots to make sure you're all set for school.

They told me on paperwork they sent me what I needed, but if you can't find in in your mail, it's probably on your school's website.  Look for a Health Services page, or for Health Requirements or something.  Worst comes to worst, find the school's phone number and call.  It would be horrible not to be able to enroll because you didn't get paperwork done.

  3. Ask your school.

And make sure they fill out every line on the forms exactly to specifications.

When I got my immunizations done, the nurse who gave me the shots signed the form and it had the name of the doctor's office on the form (but the doctor didn't sign it.  He didn't give me the shots, so why would he sign it?)

I got delayed registration because it had the doctor's name printed on the form but he hadn't signed it.  Stupid, but they take that stuff seriously.

Take it by whatever office deals with it (the health department, the registrar's office, wherever) when you get to college and MAKE SURE everything's on the up-and-up, because you don't want to find out later that there's something wrong.  Do it soon enough that you can get stuff mailed or faxed to the school in time.

But the shots are just standard fare...nothing to worry about.  It's the documentation you have to be careful with.

  4. basically i got a physical and blood tests.

and i had to get a menengitus and tetnus shot.

  5. You're going to be on campus where you have contact with a lot of people.

The shots/vaccines are to ensure that you're immune to common childhood illnesses - measles, mumps, rubella... etc.

The shots should be all that's required.

    Edit...

No scientific evidence that vaccinese work???

    Are you kidding!

It's amazing in 2008 that people believes vaccines don't work.  Polio been eliminated from the USA due to vaccinations.  Those old enough (like me) know people that are handicapped due to polio.  Thank goodness there are vaccines so the younger generation doesn't have to be hurt by once common disease, like Polio.

Please do your research before you spout junk science propaganda.

The only reason your children aren't/didn't get sick is that all the other children around them are vaccinated and have immunity.

If you lived in Africa or Latin America, I bet the results would have been different.

    What a load of c**p!

  6. The main shot they give you is the meningitis shot. So many college students have died from it because of lack of sleep and college life in general. Once you get this shot, you are immune to it though, so no worries.

  7. Hi Jay.....,

there is no scientific evidence that vaccinations prevent any disease. There is, in fact, a great body of evidence which demonstrates that vaccination actually SPREADS disease.

Additionally, many vaccines contain highly toxic preservatives which can permanently damage your body and mind.

None of my children have ever had any vaccinations and their health is way above average.

Your healthiest choice is NO shots!!!

  8. you get them cuz dorms are so dirty and you arent use to living with so many people in such a small space with shared bathrooms and close quarters.

i dont know how many but its safest to get them all.
