  1. I've been to Cozumel, but only for a couple of hours so we didn't have time to do an excursion. Here is a fantastc site to see other people's opinion on what to do at Cozumel.

March of 2007 I went to Grand Cayman, and we swam with the Stingrays at Stingray Island. I don't remember the price exactly, but I believe it was about $80-100 per person, but it could have gone up or down. You meet them somewhere on the island- they'll give you directions on how to get there and then they drive you to a boat and you make several stops. you see a lot of sealife- fish, starfish, coral, things like that, and then your final stop is with the stingrays. If you don't mind spending the money, I reccoment booking your excursion through the cruise line. The reason I say this is because if you're on an excursion not with the cruise line and it happens to run late and you miss your ship- you're screwed. If you're with the cruise line and the excursion runs late, the ship will wait for you. That's the only exception when the ship WILL wait for you.  If you'd rather do something else here is an awesome site to see what other people reccomend to do at the port of call:

Hope this helps, good luck, & have fun!! (:

  2. i have been to both places a few times(on cruises 0 and tried a few ship excursions and found them excellent.....i would look at how long you are in port before deciding to go with an outside vendor (the ship excursions make sure you will be back on the boat and if something happened the boat will not leave without you)...in Cozumel we have done the jeep 4X4 which was fun but not alot of 4 wheeling, the trip to Tulum to see the Mayan ruins which is fantastic but takes about 7 hours (make sure if you do this book thru the ship) and just last moth we tried the kayak and snorkel adventure which was fun but alot of work lol......grand Cayman is a little more laid back and really doesn't offer many good excursions we did the pirate ship thing which had free alcohol which was nice (my daughter was 12 and had a great time)  and this time we just went to the beach for a nice quiet day.......both ports are great just to hang out in and depending on your age both have plenty of bars and whatnot to pass the time.....have fun the ship and cruise will be awesome

  3. don't do the excursions they are a rip off and you have to stand around like a third grader with the teacher leading the way.  Explore on your own.  Bring a map.  Hire a cab to drive you around. Don't fall for the "it's not safe" line from the cruise ship staff trying to sell you excusions.
