After years of saving and planning my vacation. I have decided to visit the place of my ancestors ie the UK. Mainly Scotish ancestors any ways I dont want to plan any thing. I just mainly want to hope on buses and walk through country sides. Visit Pubs and watch a game of Soccer or Football as you call it. I want to sing drinking songs in the pub. Will people be open to conversations if I walk into a PUB and say im a ******* YANK lets talk! I dont really want to see London etc. Mainly small towns.

  1. I'm from England, and I was always interested if I met an American.  Remember that English people tend to see all the American movies and many of your TV shows, so have a general interest in the country.  George Bush may have ruined America's reputation abroad, but British people are smart enough to know that not all Americans are idiots like that guy.

I'd say you'd probably do pretty good traveling around the UK.  I live in America myself, and I've met a couple of Americans who lived in the UK for a year or so.  They seem to have fond memories of being there, and describe a warm reception from the people there.

I've never personally seen a drinking song sung in a pub, but you might see that at the right pub on the right occasion!

  2. No i think many men in the pub are friendly and you will get the occasional tease, but however they may be interested in what you do!

  3. Americans are very welcome here:). Highland Scotland and Wales is you best bet to see countryside. England is full of too many cities.

  4. you will always come acorss certain people who want to give you bit of grief for being American, but on the whole you will be accpeted, and most people may even have an intrest in you because of it
