  1. Even with a cell phone on the ships, the costs are higher than what you might like since it is roaming charges and the fees associated with the service of the ships tower- maybe 5-6$ per minute. E-mail is much more reasonable as you can purchase minute packages.

Unless it's for an emergency situation, relax and enjoy the cruise. There's plenty to do and most things will keep for a few days.

If you are going on 9/7 sailing, it will be a fine trip. We're going on that one (was on the ship about 6 weeks ago) and we always have a great trip and smooth seas.

  2. My cousins T-mobile works on there.  Contact t-mobile and ask them.  I contacted Royal Caribbean and they have cell towers on the Majesty of the Sea so as long as your phone works there it will work on the ship.  If you could email me when you get back and let me know how is was?  I am going in Dec on Majesty of the Seas and would like to know what to expect.  Thanks

  3. t-mobile mda vario phone, siemens SX66 pocket pc phone,

blackberry 8700c phone, palm treo 700c phone, and a kyocera QCP 6035 phone. these phones aren't cheap the run between $100-$400 if you got that much you can compare prices on the yahoo tech on yahoo; or just go to ask. com to find a cheaper phone that will work overseas and ask how many minutes you'll use if it's free. don't forget a a calling card you might want to use it and fill it with enough minutes or have a at&t card(formerly cingular for rollover minutes if you really like to talk.

  4. The ships phones are very expensive.  Your cell phone will work while in the Bahamas, but may not work while you are out at sea.

The prepaid phone cards only work at certain places in the Bahamas.  We stayed at Atlantis - and no prepaid phone cards worked there at all - but my cell phone did work.

  5. i would go for one of those international Phones, but they are pricey.  A calling card might work(international calling card) In the bahamas they might work but not out at sea. Call your phone company and ask them. Tell them what you want to do. Or get in a internet cafe from Bahamas and Email your greetings. (sounds somewhat less expensive) or Write an old fashioned letter. I think it would be fun to get a letter from someone in the bahamas on their cruise.  good luck to you.
