Im going skiing soon, will i need thermals or should i just wear lots of layers?

Wear thermals. Underarmour is great but expensive. Check cabelas on line or their catologe. They have a line called MTP. The MTP's come in several weights, polar, heavy, medium, and tech weight, so you can adjust for temperature. They wick mosture very well, are antibacterial (anti-stink), and keep you warm for a moderate price. I have been wearing them skiing for years with no problems. Layering is the right idea, but if you wear the wrong material (read cotton) especially against your skin, it will hold moisture and make you cold.

WHEN I GO SNOWBOARDING, I LOVE TO WEAR UNDERARMOR. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT TYPES FOR EVERY NEED. THE ONES I WEAR ARE FOR COLD WEATHER AND THEY KEEP YOUR BODY HEAT IN. I WOULD JUST SAY TO WEAR THOSE UNDERNEATH UR NORMAL SKI CLOTHES AND YOU'LL BE FINE. LOTS OF LAYERS CAN MAKE U UNCOMFORTABLE AND MAKE YOU SWEAT IF YOU GET TOO WARM, THEN YOU WILL BE COLD BECAUSE YOUR CLOTHES WILL BE DAMP. UNDERARMOR KEEPS YOUR BODY HEAT IN, AND LETS UR BODY STILL BREATH TO PREVENT SWEATING... THEY COME IN PANTS TOO..

Don't wear too many layers because then you won't be able to move comfortably. Also, don't wear cotton because it doesn't wick away the sweat. I recommend a few layers of breathable spandex from a sporting good store. Marshalls also sells great stuff for almost half the cost.

contrary to what you might think, wearing lots of layers is not the best way to stay warm. your body heat gets trapped between the layers of clothes and not against your body. wear thermals, a wool sweater and your gear and you will be fine.
