1. Hola...besides Florida-which is an all pedestrian street by the way...huge street for only people walking not a through street for cars. It is a bit pricey though because it's the touristy st but definitely worth seeing. Some of the best leather in the world you will find there if you are looking to spend some money on that. Another good st is calle Santa Fe. Some pricey stuff but you can also find great buys. Each side of the st is usually designated to one thing i.e. watches, shoes, leather etc. You will usually find it all grouped together.

As far as things to do...you will NEVER run out. Boliches(Argentine way to say dance clubs) are all over the place. There is a casino in Puerto Madero on a boat that stays right on the water which is pretty fun. Cafes on every corner. Great beef OF COURSE. You must have asado atleast once while you are there.

The person before me is right-the men will cat call you and say things to you. And they don't just whistle they make this really awful tsz tsz and like kissy sound at you it gets old real quick! I would just be disgusted but that is how they are. Also it is true for some reason if you make eye contact with the men nevermind smile they will persue you. Apparently that alone is an invitation to hit on you. They are usually harmless but you will experience this while you are walking around.

There is museams galore, amazing gardens you should see! Jardrin botanico and there is a japanese garden. You should go to the colon theater if you have time. I can't remember the name of the st it is on but that street is filled with many exciting things to do especially theater/music related. I am rambling so I will stop but I hope this helps.

Must tries: Mate, ducle de leche, submarinos, milanesa, asado, facturas, churros rellenos de chocolate...so much more! HAVE FUN!

also you can stay out until like 5 or 7am. Places don't even get busy until like 1 or 2.

  2. Obviously go to Buenos Aires, since it's the biggest and capital city! Go to the La Boca area of the city if you want to see tons of creativity and art. A lot of the buildings are painted bright colors and I even want to live there! It's kind of an artsy neighborhood. Also go to the Florida area, because there are tons of malls, stores, etc. all around that area It's kind of on the pricey side, so bring enough money or your credit card! There are malls, stores, etc. all around that area.

    Go to these sites:

  3. well, i live in buenos aires, so i hope i can be helpful.

there are tons of things to do. many have mentioned Florida st., its very interesting not only because of the shops and cafes but also because there are tons of street shows of tango, folklore, etc.

if you would like to go shopping, you should go to: Galerias Pacifico (in Florida), Alto Palermo (Palermo), Abasto or Unicenter (Martinez). if wou like more "designer" clothes, there are tons of young local designers with really cool outfits to a very affordable price at Palermo Soho/Palermo Hollywood. there you can also find a lot of accesories that are very attractive. dont miss the fair in Plaza Serrano (also in Palermo), wich is open only on weekends

if you like art there are tons of museaums and art galleries. i recommend you the Museo de Bellas Artes (in Recoleta) and the Museo de Arte Decorativo (in Belgrano). remember to check what is going on at La Rural, there are some interesting things being held there. and try to go to Colon Theathre, its gorgeus but is restored so maybe its still closed by the time you come. apart from that, there are many historical places like Plaza de Mayo, im sure you ll find a tour guide or something.

if you like walking, the best places to go are Palermo, Belgrano, Recoleta, Puerto Madero, Costanera,Microcentro, San Telmo and La Boca. each neighbourhood has its own signature. for example, La Boca and San Telmo are a lot related to Tango; Recoleta is a very euroepan place (specially Alvear av.), Microcentro is where Florida st is, and Puerto Madero is the old port that has become one of the chickest areas in BA with great restaurantes.

there are also many parks you should see such as the botanic garden, the japanise garden and specially the Rosedal (since your going in spring, it will be filled with roses, very romantic).

other things you can do are going to Tigre (very near the city), going to a soccer/tennis/polomatch, taking tango lessons, going to recoleta cementery (where Evita is buried), going to concerts (from classical to techno and rock) and you should try one of the bike tours around the city or the Reserva Natural.

regarding the nightlife, you ll never get bored. there are a lot of bars and pubs in Recoleta (near the cinema complex Village), in Plaza Serrano, Palermo in general and Microcentro, but actually there are bars at every neighbourhoods. the best clubs to go are Opera Bay and Asia de Cuba, but it depends on your taste. remember ppl here goes out at 1 am adn comes back at 6/7 am.

the food you should try are: asado, chorizo, mate, empanadas, alfajores, panqueques/waffles de dulce de leche, ice cream, milanesas and all kinds of pasta.

by the way, yes, it is true than argentinian men tend to say things to pretty women on the street, but you shouldnt be afraid or anything. look at the bright side, iy you re feeling bad one day, that will surely rise your self esteem.

i hope you can use this info, have a great time!!

  4. Are you staying in Buenos Aires? If so, you will never run out of things to do! If you like shopping, check out avenida Florida. I could spend a month there and still not see everything. It is a shopper's paradise! There are great restaurants on every corner and a billion bars and clubs to go to. Check out Opera Bay if you like huge clubs. It's awesome. I thought the city was totally safe, but if you're by yourself as a woman you'll probably get hit on a fair amount by Argentine guys. I learned that avoiding eye contact works really well. If you look guys in the eye they tend to take that as a sign that you're interested in them ... hmmm... If you're into museums, music, tango, outdoor activities, you'll find it all in Buenos Aires. Have a great time!
