India is a great country to visit. Its has rich culture and heritage and lot of things to visit and learn. April\May may be little hotter. Just plan your visit in the month of Feb/March or Sep/Oct when lot of tourists enjoy coming here. If you don't know anybody, be a member of Youth Hostel Association. They have good neat and clean accomodation facilities almost everwhere in India. They people have their arrangements for sightseeing and other facilitles also. Just enjoy your trip.
