  1. August can be super hot and humid! There are 2 weeks in August everyone in Italy goes on holiday.  Don't go then b/c EVERYTHING is closed.  Not museums, but restaurants and shops etc.

I forgot and missed out on all my favorite places.  I was really disappointed.

  2. Take sun screen.   Summer in Italy is hot and sunny.  I hiked one of the trails of the Cinque Terre in the summer.  It was very hot and humid.  We ran into a woman hiking topless!

  3. Hi. I'm Italian, living in the north not far from Milan. You should say in which part of Italy you are going and in which month. there are lot of differences between June, July and August, the weather will change a lot in these 3 months.

anyway, summer in Italy it's hot. If you're going to the seaside or to he mountain, there will be a gentle breeze in the evening (bring a jumper with you), whereas if you stay in a City (Rome, Milan....) evenings are mild and you'll be ok with a t-shirt. During the day, you can go outside with shorts an t-shirt, but remember that you aren't allowed to enter in churches and religious places dress like so. I will recommend you to wear a skirt (that cover at least your knees) and  short-sleeved shirt. if you dress like so, you can enter everywhere and you'll be very fashionable. put flip-flops and you'll be comfortable for the whole day, and your feet wont' be too hot. remember to use suntan cream and a hat during the hottest hours of the day.

I don't know a good story I could tell you...I traveled a lot in Italy (of course, this is my country) and I've always enjoyed myself so much...I hope you'll do the same!

remember that in Italy, every place, every city, every little town worth to be seen, because art, culture and amazing landscape are all around you.

    bye

  4. You don't say where in Italy...I recently returned from 10 days trip from Milan to the Isle of Capris...but we went in October..much cooler weather..

what not to miss: all of it....it's fabulous, loved Pompeii, loved the Isle of Capris, loved Rome and would like to go back and see much more of Rome.  Florence and Venice were great too, and you could easily spend two weeks in each of those places...

the food and wine are as good as they say...and don't miss visiting the grocery stores yourself...people were very friendly and many speak a little english...so you should be learning a little italian..and below's a great place to brush  up..just type in italian language into the search box and start practicing!!

Best story:  go for a boat ride around the isle of capris, the water is a purple blue and there's grottos the smaller boats get into..Capris also has a little beach so pack a picnic lunch and go swimming! (Capris is south of Rome not far from Pompeii.
