There are many wonderful and interesting places in Southern California where you can visit , such as, Marina Del Rey, UCLA & Westwood Village, The Grove at Farmers Market, Balboa Park in San Diego, Mann's Chinese Theatre, La Brea Tar Pits, beautiful La Jolla Beach in San Diego, J. Paul Getty Museum to the amazing LA County Arboretum & Bontanical Garden. stay away from New Orleans...  they still have hurricane damage from katrina...  but you might enjoy baton rouge.
