  1. Hi, we came back in January - it's an amazing place. You can get a two day bus tour that takes you on various routes that you can just hop on and off - that cost 25 Euros.  I think it was 11 euros to go to the top of the tower, 7 Euros for a pass to the louvre. Three or five for Notre dam.  The prices for the attractions are really reasonable and they are all awesome but you can just have a great time by walking round and going to a cafe.

Alcohol is expensive but the food is reasonable - we stayed just off the Champs elysee where it is most costly but it didn't break the bank.

  2. bludyel she dropped lucky getting you didnt she!

  3. Invest in a metro ticket ( carnet ) for the duration of your stay.  pretty much anywhere that you pop up is interesting and on the whole cafes and restaurants are low priced compared to the uk

  4. All the good things to see in Paris are quite close so you can walk everywhere.  Entrance prices to places like Eiffel tower, Louvre etc are no where near as expensive as similar such places in London.

Check out Notre Dame on the Ile de La Cite - you can climb up the tower (entrance is at the let hand side of the church as you look at the front).

Do a Da Vinci Code tour - go and see St Sulpice & see if you can find the Rose Line (does it exist?)

You will always be able to find good cheap food particularly in the Latin Quarter on south side of the river by Ile de la Cite - It's the student bit.

Enjoy people watching from a road side cafe.

    Have fun

  5. If your staying in monmartre, there's a place we went for dinner there that was lovely and very cheap.

By the entrance to the dali museum (nr the artists square thing, forgotten what it's called) there's a load of stone steps and at the bottom is a cafe/resteraunt which i think is called 'chez marie', it has a dark green sign with gold writing.

the guy that owns it is very friendly, speaks english. a three course meal cost less that 11 euros (about 8 quid i think?) and included the nicest chocolate mousse i've ever had!! It was over a year ago but can't imagine it'll have gone up that much!

  6. Va dans une auberge de jeunesse.  regarde le site www.fuaj.fr

  7. Buy a museum pass.  It's cheaper than paying the admission fee everytime you go in.  If you and your girlfriend are willing to buy some groceries for at least some of your meals instead of eating out every meal, you can save a lot of money and still eat good tasting food.  A compromise is buying fresh foods from the deli section of a supermarket (cheeses, sausages, quiche, roast chicken, etc.).
