  1. A little advise to someone 18 years old. Go over there showing some respect for the country and people and not being arrogant and obnoxious. Chances are you won't be robbed or have your pocket picked if you are taking precautions. One word of advise. Don't wonder around at night alone. Is very dangerous at night. The day is not too bad.. san Pedro Sula doesn't have any beaches. About an hours drive by bus or car is Tela. It is a beach town. Then then is Puerto Cortes. I would reccommend Tela over Puerto Cortes. San Pedro Sula has a modern mall and modern resturants. Is not alot to see or do in San pedro Sula as far as tourist sights. Sign up for tours of the country and you can see some amazing sights. Especially at the lakes and mountains.Good luck and stay safe.

  2. I go to Honduras every month since i live in Nicaragua (the country just below it). I have many friends and some family there so i when you visit i recommend you visit/do the following things:

Go to the Mercado Guamilito, there you can get some delicious national dishes for cheap and buy some souvenirs for your friends and family back home.

Catch a show at the José Francisco Saybe theater. I last saw one called "Círculo Teatral Sampedrano", it was amazing.

Although its a bit far, visit Lake Yojoa and Venado Island in the lake. The Los Naranjos Eco park, just around the lake, is also very interesting.

Visit Copan, its about 3 hours from SPS but well worth it, its absolutely amazing.

If you have money, visit Mediterraneo. Mediterraneo is a restaurant, pricey but worth it. On Sunday they have a buffet. Its located in the Arab Country Club. If you don't like Mediterranean food they also have a sushi bar. Its in the Barrio Rio Pierdas.

A for nightlife, just head to Zona Viva. You can bar hop all night. The Karaoke Club in Zona Viva is always packed, it has a nice atmosphere. As for bars, my favorite is La Cava.

There are many many malls in SPS, Mall Multi Plaza, Mega Plaza, Metro Plaza, Multicines Plaza, ect. Catch a movie at any of them, the price is really cheap (less than $2).

You also have to see the Cathedral at the Central Park (Parque Central). The Museum of Anthropology and History is just a couple of blocks from Central Park, its a must.

Some really fun, but a bit far places, you can visit are: El Cusuco National Cloud Forest Park, San Fernando de Omoa Fortress and Lancetilla Gardens and Tela Garifuna Communities. These are easy if you make them day-trips.

Flor de Caña is a must. This rum is from Nicaragua but you can purchase it in many countries around the world. It has won over 80 international awards. Its the best rum and its also cheap in Honduras so buy some! My favorite is "Gran Reserva" and the new "Zeta". You can buy them at the Mercado Guamilito, they even come in little bottles (of 4 flavors) in some leather thing.. these can also be taken back with you and given as a souvenir.

  3. For beaches Tela Mar  or Omoa in Puerto Cortez.  As for places in San Pedro Sula there is lots to see.
