i need some clever ways to do it just ideas or suggestions. i want to get this one right

Definitely do it in person. She is less likely to reject you. Bring her flowers and let her know that you would like to take her to dinner. Do it before the weekend. If Friday or Saturday doesn't work out, suggest the following weekend.  Never ask someone out for the same day. This looks like you don't respect that she may have a life. Don't make it a Valentine's Day date. Too much pressure for both of you to make it perfect. Good luck.

Don't be clever and don't try to impress her. Just ask her if she would like to go out with you and be nice to her.
