  1. Once you get into your unit and spend some time there you may apply..But your chances are not as good because infantry Marines do what Recon requires day in and day out.

Recon is open to all MOS's.

  2. yeah you can if you havent started basic yet put it in your contract but yeah you can

  3. It is possible, but you would have to wait for your turn. Most people that have a non infantry MOS have to wait, I know this because a Sergeant that worked in my Squadron was selected to go Recon.  An he was a 6672.

  4. Exactly was LavaDog said...Recon is open for any MOS for anyone willing to do a lateral move.  However, Division Recon is a semi-permanent career move, whereas, Force Recon is a career-by-choice (once you finish with training, pre/post deployment) you can decide to stay or go back to your original unit and MOS [but you get to carry the MOS 8654 throughout your whole USMC career])

Division Recon is an in the infantry field of MOS so you will require a lateral move.  FORECON doesn't require it but is in option.  Kinda hard to explain...

Division Recon MOS is 0321, but FORECON is 0321 and 8654 because the 8654s are assuming the role of an 0321 until otherwise.
