  1. ask your host family

  2. Yes if your visa for Denmark is marked 'Schengen' you can travel around MOST countries in Europe. Denmark is part of the Schengen agreement. Every country that has signed this agreement, allows people with valid visas to travel from one country to the other without having to get a new visa.

But not all European countries are part of the Schengen agreement. UK, Ireland, Switzerland, etc are not part of the agreement.

On the otherhand, if you have a US passport, you can travel to every European country for 90 days without a visa. You can not work there, but you can visit as a tourist.
