  1. If it's Greyhound, sleep with one open. I have yet to ride a Greyhound

that didn't have a couple of psychos on board. You have no idea what

what to expect. I have dozens of scary stories. At 3am the guy across

the isle from me looked over at me and said, come on let's go, you

and me, right now. I had no previous conversations with him.  Another time the guy sitting next to me kept reaching across me and punching the window. He did this hundreds of times for no apparent reason.

One time a guy was smoking nonchalantly on the bus while

in the middle of Nebraska. The bus driver called the police and

state troopers pulled the bus over.  They tried to escort the man

off the bus and he grabbed a tropper's gun and a scary struggle

    ensued.

And the list goes on and on. It is best called Psycho Hound, and you best

be careful.  What should you do?  Well, if you are a social person

you can put yourself in the midst of a click. Clicks develop on the

bus, and everybody in the click become great friends. Usually

they become loud and annoying, however. If you are a s**t, you

might consider making out with the guy next to you. This is a popular activity on Greyhounds.  The way they go at it, it is embarrassing.

The bus drivers do nothing about it.  Bring some small whiskey bottles to drink. Bring a mask in case you get seated next to a really stinky person. Forget reading, nobody reads on the bus. It is too distracting.

  2. READ!!! Bring a few books, or maybe one big one.

Bring a deck of cards. Maybe the person next to you might want to play.

Load tons of new music on your Ipod/mp3. Load a game onto your Ipod, and a movie or two.

Bring a laptop and watch movies off of it, or a portable DVD player.

Bring a game-boy type thing if you're into that.

Buy a few magazines, but don't read them until the trip.

A coloring book might be fun.

A crossword/wordsearch/puzzle book might be fun.

Find travel books about your destination?

    Knit?-- If you can?

    Sleep. :)

8 hours on a bus is terrible. I went from IL to NYC for a trip, and spent 17 hours on a bus. We practically lived on the dumb thing. So it could be worse. Hope this helped.

    Have a safe trip.

  3. get an iPod. or a phone. or a computer. or a game boy.  or a Rubik's cube. get something to entertain you. watch a movie. read a book.

  4. wait for the bus

  5. listen to music, read magazines, sleep!, books, crossword/sudoku puzzles, play ds/game boy/psp if you have one.

  6. book, music, dvd player

  7. reading on a bus always gives me a headache! bring a portable dvd player, ipod, text your friends. however you need to have them really charged cuz i dont think u can plug them in to anyting. sleeping works too. oh you can write a letter telling people things you would never tell them in real life, but make sure you burn them!

  8. ipod

a good book-reading really makes the time go faster.

  9. there are several things you can do.

    ipod/mp3

    read a book

    crossword puzzles

    word searches

    handheld videogames

    take a nap

    call somebody

    movie

    laptop

  10. download a couple of movies on your ipod

  11. Yes.  Bring a soft PILLOW!

The last time I rode a bus for that period of time, I told myself if I ever did it again I would bring a pillow.  Believe me, it will come in handy and you will not regret it.

Edit:  Yea!  Finally!  5,001 points with that answer!  I'm up to Level 5.

  12. Dress as comfortably and pack as lightly as possible.  Bring an iPod, good book, puzzle book, and/or journal.  Write descriptions of the interesting characters around you; speculate about their stories and destinations.  8 hours is doable.  Once I Greyhounded for 50 hours (Albuquerque to NYC)!

Oh yeah, I seem to recall I made a really good batch of brownies and brought a little flask of something special to take the edges off the ride.  If you're of that bent you may consider it.  Also bring change for pay toilets!

  13. Get liquored up before you go, that makes everything better.
