  1. How about the King James Version of the Holy Bible?  That's what you need.

  2. The Witches Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar

  3. well... it depends on what type of books you are wanting to use.

if you want lesson learning stuff for teens i recommend some judy blume books.

if you are political ther is no harm in the newspaper

and if you want fantasy try magic tree house books by mary pope osborn.

last but not least comidy! there are soo many books that are suckinginish books. i personaly like andrew clements books. they make you feel stupid and like the book is outsmarting you but they are awsome books.

it just takes you going to a library and checkin out some books!

  4. don't go with anything copyrighted after the 80's. It is just regurgitated junk. Buckland and Cunningham are two authors I recommend, also Raven Grimassi.

  5. Well, darling...the desire to become wiccan...or to learn the ways...is rather a "newer" invention of man... you'd have to dwell a little more in the "old ways." And it's rough at times to get your hands on ancient witch ways... ("witch" really isn't a bad term...) Instead of only studying and learning the wiccan ways...start with the Occult. Learn all you can about mult-deity-based cults and godless/goddessless cults. You must always keep in mind... it is all manmade... all different beliefs...different visions...different ways...don't restrain yourself to just one thing...wiccan is very interesting, but test the waters with everything that you can. Learn everything in the Occult. It's a world boyond what you know and beyond simple wiccan. Open your mind to the Occult. Some of it can be directly related to Wiccan.

I encourage you to seek out all that you can...

  6. Here's the Internet Book of Shadows:

  7. You shouldn't become a Wiccan until you thoroughly understand what it is - as well as what it is not. If you find that it is what you are looking for, welcome to the path.  But you should be making an informed choice.

About the only accurate information you have gotten so far is that it is a newer religion, from the 1950's.

For a good breakdown of the *religion* (Note I am distinguishing it from magic which all the non-Christian answerers above were answering about) this is the most accurate on-line information:

    http://wicca.timerift.net/wicca101/index...

There is also a recommended reading list on that site as well:

    http://wicca.timerift.net/books.shtml

Wiccan and witch are *not* synonymous. Wicca is a religion, witchcraft is magical practice which may or may not be done within *any* religious tradition as well as by atheists.

  8. yup better than any book listed.  the HOLY BIBLE!!!! read it and get the deamons out of your head.

  9. I was a Wiccan.  Spent a long time in a coven.

if you want to be miserable, it will help you with that.

Better yet, run like h**l, lest you go that way.

Talk to God.  Let yourself get loved.

  10. I agree with the third answer, Wicca is a new religion. But every religion has its roots. What kind of witch do you want to be? There are so many different types. You have your Green Witches, Hedge Witches, Garden Witches, Elemental Witches, Solitary Witches, Pagans, Wiccans, etc. Many of these intertwine.

Are you studying magick for selfish reasons and to engage in white and black magick alike? Go with Paganism. Are you studying magick for the greater good and not to harm anyone? Go with Wicca.

People preaching the bible at you like Divina above my answer, obviously are lying about being wiccan or didn't study enough or follow the rules. And regarding covens - it is best to start out as a Solitary Witch (alone) so that you can understand things on your own level and pace and not have to argue it with anyone. I have been a witch and practicing witchcraft for many years and if anything I am happier and more spiritual. According to Christians ALL witchcraft is bad and evil. Why, because they are close-minded to it.

Scott Cunningham's books are very easy to work with as a beginner, his practice teaches you the simplicity of working with nature and the elements, which is all you need as a witch is to work with and be one with nature. These are very good starter books. Very good spellcraft here. Particularly Earth Magic and Earth, Air, Fire & Water by him are two of my favorites. The only book I had by him that I didn't like was the one on Crystals and Gemstones.

Also The Real Witches' Handbook by Kate West is very good. I recently bought it tho I'm not new to witchcraft but I love it and I've already read it twice.

I also like How to be a Wicked Witch by Patricia Telesco (not about being "wicked" and she explains this in the introduction). I've had this book for many years and it's also good for beginners it covers a bunch of basics and goes into some spellcraft.

Good Luck finding your path. Journey wisely. And most importantly grow and learn from it.

  11. Merry Meet,

If you want to be a Wiccan, you will have to want to study. Practicing the Craft entails a lot of studying and dedication.

There are many legitimate sources out there today to glean knowledge from. One being Witchvox at http://www.witchvox.com/, they have many links for mentors or even a Coven, Circle or Grove near you. If there are none near you, you could look into getting online training through the Sacred Mists at http://www.workingwitches.com/wicca/cour... or OZ Wicca at http://www.ozwicca.com/ , both are pretty decent for learning the Craft on the Web.

Also if you can, get your hands on Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and/or The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan. Both of these books are very good reading and both will give you some deeper insight to the Craft and how it relates to you. If you like something more on the eclectic side, I suggest any Scott Cunningham book; they are all very well done.

I hope that this information helps you out.

    Always in Light and Love
