Im going to bulgaria in 4 days

Question

im staying in hotel marvel in sunny beach. what is the hotel like? what is the food like? what kind of food can you get? IS THERE A KETTLE IN THE ROOM??? is there any nice restaurants in the area? what would you recommend to do for me (14) and my mother (50) ? how long on a plane will it take to get there from ireland? thanks xxxx

Hey there! Just back from Sunny Beach yesterday actually (9th of August) and had a lovely time in Bulgaria. We stayed in the Marvel Hotel for a week and it was grand and very very clean. It is a four star hotel with indoor and outdoor swimming pools (very impressive ones might i add) but to me it is really only a two or three star hotel. Probably just the different design of the hotel, and the simple and plain furniture etc. The bedroom and bathroom were also very clean and the beds very confortable. There is air conditioning and a fridge in the bedroom. I got clean towels every second day which is grand. The breakfast food is pretty good, but nothing special. It is a buffet breakfast and you can get as many different types of food as you want. I even noticed people gettring alot of breads and food etc but we realise that they are making sandwiches and wrapped it with napkins to keep it for lunch!!! It was no problem by the staff aswell, amazingly enough. But we recommended you to try the jacked potatoes for lunch at the beach- as it was delicious. Oh and remember- Buglaria may have different hotel star rates than Ireland.



Taxis are very dear but that is the same everywhere. Taxis do show prices display on the passenger window.

Marvel hotel is just opposite from Victoria Palace (5 star hotel). The VP hotel is lovey and spacious and if you want to go to the beach you can walk in thru the VP hotel and out again onto the beach,short cut. Heard the food in VP hotel is same as Marvel hotel. But if you would like to treat yourself, go to VP hotel la carte restaurant not the other restaurant where you see buffet dinner. Or go to the old town called Nessebar which is only 10km away. There is a bus, only few mins walk from Mavel hotel onto the main road. See Bus no. 1 and that brings you to Nessebar. Only 1 leva per person single way. Taxi between 25 to 30 leva to Nessebar from Marvel hotel. Nessebar is the best place to visit and interesting to see old buildings. Or go to Fish restaurant Sushi in Helena hotel. Reasonable food at sunnybeach resort is the Fat Cat Club.

Sunnybeach is just like all resorts in Spain, Blackpool etc. Just very busy at night time with people shopping for cheap handbags, designer label clothes and so on....! For real handbags go to the Royal Beach Mall near Hotel Globus or inside small shop of the Hotel Helena beside VP hotel and Hotel Majestic.

Main points- for you as a fourteen year old, there isn't much enterainment to enjoy. just try and make your own fun at the beautiful beaches! there is a very small kids club though- great way to meet new friends. We only saw enterainment once in the Hotel Majestic which is next door from Marvel hotel and VP hotel. For age 18 onward, you will love it as there are alot of people at the sunnybeach nightlife.

Bulgaria is a nice place to see, reasonable food in restaurants and lovely weather.

And yes, there is a kettle in the room!
