  2. I work at a camp actually so this is a good question for me to answer.  Bring a lot of changes of clothes.  It may get hot and you don't want to wear sweaty clothes.  If they have access to water, bring a swimsuit so you can go swimming.  Don;t forget the essentials like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, all that jazz.  Some camps have dances so dress clothes would be good.  Sunscreen and bug spray.  Bring a water bottle.  Its cheaper than buying bottled water all the time.  Bring paper and pens so you can get address' of new friends and write down things you dint want to forget.  You can also write letters with that paper.  Besides flip flops, bring Tennis shoes because a lot of camps have you doing outdoor things so you want to have good, sturdy shoes on.  Now, I work at a camp where american things are banned since it is a language immersion camp.  You could bring books if you want or an iPod filled with good music.

    Hope that helped

  3. Going to a Summer camp/private camp isn't much different than going on vacation. The big thing is to bring comfortable clothes and shoes you can walk in.

For a week at summer camp you'd need something like the following for clothes:

    -1 swimsuit

    -2 pairs of blue jeans

    -3 pairs of shorts

    -7 T-shirts

    -8 pairs underwear

    -8 pairs socks

    -2 pairs comfortable walking shoes/boots

    -1 rain slicker/poncho

For a week at camp your personal kit (stuff other than clothes) should probably include:

    -1 toothbrush

    -1 container toothpaste

    -1 comb/brush

    -1 bar of soap

    -2 large towels (beach towels)

-$3 in quarters for a payphone to call home every now and again (you probably won't get cell service)

    -1 nail clipper

    -1 small bottle of shampoo

    -1 pillow

    -1 set of sheets*

    -1 lightweight blanket*

I'd probably toss a pocket knife in if I was going, but that depends on your camps rules concerning "weapons". Some don't mind, others may.

As far as food goes, you'll eat most of your meals in the mess, so you don't really need to bring more than snacks.*

*optional if you're staying at a family camp which will already be furnished.
