I love giving tips for L cosplayers!

Well, clothes are pretty straight forward: long sleeve white shirt with a round neck and baggy jeans.

As for hair, if your styling your own hair you're going to need lots of gel/hair wax to get L's 'I just rolled out of bed' look. In fact, it might be an idea to put some wax in your hair and then sleep on it, fixing it in the morning.

If you're buying a wig, get one without a part that comes slightly onto your face. If you don't know what I'm talking about think Ishida from Bleach.

Spray (hair spray only, no gel or wax unless you want a ruined wig) the whole wig and create L's basic look before nuking with a hairdryer. Don't let it get too stiff though.

If cutting is required, cut parallel to hair spikes. If you don't the ends will look choppy instead of spiky. Keep spraying and nuking with the hairdryer until you're satisfied.

As for getting into character: watch lots of Death Note, read the manga, fanfiction, stay up late :D
