Im going to england!?

ok so im going to England all by myself and im a teen so i will be staying with my cuzzin who is my age and i dont know what i want to do when im there! we will be near south hamton!

I'm an American who used to work for Cunard, the British Ship company and my home port was Southampton, which is in Hampshire, England.

Southampton itself is not a very interesting or pretty city ... it was bombed heavily in World War 2 and most of the buildings are ugly 1950s 1960s boxes. The ancient walls, over a 1,000 years old remain in parts, though and you can ":walk the walls" which is very nice (I know it doesn't sound interesting, but it is!) The City Gates, or "Bargate" is a great place to have your picture taken.

Close to Southampton are two very pretty and historic places:

1. Winchester, with it's magnificent cathedral. Now this is a real charming historic ancient English town - just walk around look at the shops, have lunch and check out Jane Austen's house near the cathedral.

2. Take a boat ride to nearby Isle of Wight. They leave from the Southampton waterfront ever half hour or so. It's a short ride, only about an half an hour. I walked through the town of Cowes, the main town on the Isle to Osbourne House (it was a long walk about a mile I think) - which was Queen Victoria's favorite home; it is a grand mansion and the rooms and gardens are just beautiful. Check out the children's play cottage in the gardens, it is so cool!

3. Of course you'll want to take a trip by train to London. Need I say more?

I presume you mean Southampton and i live in Southampton.

check out the town of Southampton,the quays swimming cent re,

all the shops.

and if you have time check out the new forest its 11 miles from Southampton and we have wild ponies running free cattle and thousands of acres off beautiful country side.

There is also the Southampton football club home to the saints.

the Titanic museum is worth checking out as well.

Portsmouth is a few miles down the motorway but they have a naval museum which is well worth checking out
