I really want to make sure I'm getting a safe ride out there. Im also open for any other free transportation in that direction.

  1. You'll have the best luck with solo drivers rather than trucking companies - they probably have rules against picking up riders, unless they're privately owned.

It's a great way to travel and it's too bad this country is so uptight that it isn't more acceptable. I've traveled half way across the country as a hitchhiker and it was great experience.

  2. Go to craigslist for your town and look under the rideshare tab.  You can post a request for anyone traveling the direction you are and you can ride with them.

  3. It will not make a difference about the trucking line because they most likely will not allow riders. Owner Operators might give you a ride but with the potential of hijackings or getting mugged they are not likely to let you in the cab. You are taking one heck of a risk and if you do go through with it I wish you the best of luck. You might be better off looking at Greyhound.

  4. You are a fool to hitchhike and put your life in someone elses hands,  its dangerous,  and the last story I heard of the snowboarder hitching,  was that he ended up dead.  Don't do it.

  5. why the h**l would you do that o_O?
