  1. it will be hot as h**l so where next to nothing.  ROME is the place to be.

  2. It will be hot there that time of the year. So wear clothes that are cool and comfy. Wear modest clothing in Rome and not shorts. Now my son and daughter-in-law just got back yesterday. They went to Venus, Pisa,Florence, and the wine country. They had a blast with 15 of there friends. They pretty much winged it except they had a villa rented. One great tip for saving money is to go to a bar there that serves wine by the glass and offers appetizer plates along with the wine for free. They would go to 3 different places and end up eating like a king for about 7 Euros at each place.

  3. it's SUPER hot here in july so bring a lot of cool, flowy clothing. i recommend knee-length skirts [hoochie jean skirts are not appropriate for visiting churches and also look ridiculous; also wear a shirt that covers your shoulders or bring a wrap to wear for churches], dark jeans, sun dresses, polo shirts, gladiator sandals, flats, sunglasses [italians ALWAYS wear sunglasses], dressier tops, a nice bag and heels. italians look good even when going to the grocery store.

men also dress nicely at all times. dark jeans and suit shirts/dressier shirts are staples, as are dress shoes or fancier [if they can get fancy] tennis shoes.

at night, step it up a notch. silk blouses and dresses are most popular, always worn with heels. accessories [gold and silver] and also very popular. men wear dress pants and suit shirts, again with nice shoes.

if you don't want to be laughed at, don't look like a typical tourist: hat, white tennis shoes, socks, big tshirts, baggy shorts, etc. try and speak the language too - we appreciate it when people try. :)

as for shopping, the stores and restaurants on via delle carrozze [right in front of the spanish steps in rome] are fabulous and are highly recommended.

HAVE FUN! YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE!
