  1. I have lived in Mexico for several years on and off and have had no problem. I will tell you not to drink the water, always use bottled water. In fact, I even brush my teeth with bottled water. And be careful of the street vendors, go to the ones with long lines ( the locals know where to eat ). You will have a great time and stay healthy if you use your head a bit. Have a great trip

  2. Hola.  No you should be okay.  Most people get the twin rx vaccination for Hep A and B, which needs to be done several months before you travel.   Very rare to catch Malaria or Yellow Fever, Dengue but it can happen.  If you end up in an area with standing water in early morning or evening, use mosquito repellent.

  3. where in mexico are you going? not that it matters, but i don't think you'll need any.. just take lots of pepto and immodium with you :)

  4. i don't think so. just don't drink the water. you usually need injections if you are going to like africa.

  5. Not unless you're trekking in deep jungle. A tetanus shot would be good, but there hasn't been an outbreak of malaria reported anywhere here. We had painful shots for cholera once but that was 40 years ago! Not to worry, Mexico is a very civilized country with adequate health protection.

  6. We never do.  (for Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel)  You are going to be OK in the resort areas as long as you had all your childhood shots.  You might want to make sure you are UTD on your tetanus (like in the last 10 years)...Other than that, no.

  7. malaria tablets, a must, you can get them from the doctor, about a 16wk course, a pain but better than malaria!

  8. If you are going to a resort area, you do not need any.  If youare going to a remote jungle area, then malaria tabs would be wise.  you can see the CDC site below...but if youare just going to a resort, you do not need any. I aman American living in mexico and had no shots to come here and do not need any...I do not live in a resort area, but i am not out runing around in the jungle either.
