  1. Pompidou Center is great on the Right Bank.  Also shops on the Left Bank (artsy side of the Seine) are out of sight ~ but on the expensive side.

Just walk around ~ you will find places everywhere.

You'll be safe.  Don't worry.  Keep your money hidden inside your clothes.  Paris isn't like Rome ~ there aren't Gypsies waiting to steal your stuff !!!

Have an amazing time in the "City of Lights".  It is awesome !

Don't forget to see some of the sights.  Louve, Musee de Orsay, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Arc d', Sacred Heart Church, and it goes on and on.

In fact, get Rick Steves book on Paris !!! He tells you everywhere to go.  The best and the cheapest.

  2. If you need some cheaper touristy type gifts to take home for friends I'd suggest either the shops up in Montmartre or in the area around Notre Dame.  Paris is a very safe place. Just don't carry a lot of cash or valuables on you because the pickpockets are incredibly good at what they do!

  3. It might be expensive for you but wander down the Champs Elysees as it is a big shopping road.

The other users are right, but I just wanted to mention that do be careful - especially if you go to the Artist's quarter - as I did once see a pickpocket wandering around. You shouldn't have a problem as long as you are aware of who is close to you.

  4. Melanie is right.  You'll be fine - France is a first world country and Paris is pretty safe.  Don't forget to take in the culture too.
