  2. If you are planning to visit Cusco or any other city in the Andes that is the best season because it´s not rainy. Peru is an amazing country with many beautiful places. Hotels are fine as long as you don´t go to a 1 star one.

In Lima you must go to the Museo de Oro (gold museum) is great. If you go to Cusco all the archaeological places are good. The jungle you must go to Manu natural reserve. In the south you can go to Nazca to see the Lines. In Arequipa the Colca canyon is the deepest in the world. In the north of Peru the beaches of Mancora are really nice. Also Puno in the Andes where Lake Titicaca is.

Food is good, you should try Lomo Saltado (is meat). If you are too picky there's always burgers and junk food. The best burgers and fries are at Bembos.

I´m sure you will have a great time here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. When I visited peru, I didn't wear any jewelry, and carried only enough cash for what I was about to do.

Be especially careful with the taxis as they are not regulated like they are in other countries, anyone can put a taxi sign on a car, if you need one, it's better to call one from the phone book, rather than get one in the street.  If you are in the street and need a ride, use a combi, they are more fun anyways.

And like the other guys said, go to bembos, the burgers are so much better than in the u.s.  Eat pollo ala brasa, and anticucho, and the potatoes.  And if you like fish or seafood, you are in for a real treat.  If you go to Lima, go to Pardos Chicken, its a chain and they have the most amazing chicken.

Have fun.  Be safe, watch out for large crowds, alot of guys rob people in teams and will snatch your camera so fast, you won't be able to do anything.  But really watch out for the taxis.  My bro in law lives there, and he took one one nite, and they sprayed some stuff in his face that made him pass out, and when he woke up, he was at his house, but the driver robbed him.

All in all, it's fairly safe if you're not a dumbass.  If you are a seasoned international traveler, it should all be common sense.
