Hurricanes are rare events. The DR has been hit by 11 hurricanes in almost 80 years. Historically, big hurricanes have been widely spaced out through the years and for the most part have hit the less populated southwestern and western coasts of the Dominican Republic.

well i would say low, because the water in the carribean has been especially cold this year, with alot of thermoclines,  in the past when we had  bad hurricanes in florida, texas , and the carribean it is because the water was so hot, and a hurricanes fuel is warm water, when they hit land or get into cold water they weaken,  you should be fine, but don't depend on my answer because there is a chance (small) that it could change by then. good luck
