  1. to give you a look, i payed 400 some bucks for my board (burton) boots and bindings (I got a package)  However, i think boots are EXTREMELY important.  If you don't have a responsive well  fitting and comfortable boot, your feet will hurt and then your day is ruined (its happened to me).

  2. probably $1000 + for a decent board, boots, bindings, a good tuning and other things.

I recommend rome and burton boards and burton custom bindings

  3. Well it all depends on what sized gear you need and what quality you want.  Smaller boards for kids are significantly cheaper than adult boards.

I'll just assume you're at least 120 pounds with at least a size seven shoe.  If you want a high-end board such as a Burton, or a Gnu, or a Ride, you will probably end up spending at least $500 for all the gear.  If you want a cheaper board, I'd recommend the Lamar, which will probably cost you at least $300.  And that is if you find a good deal on eBay.  Here, I'll set it up so you can see what things will cost individually:

Board- $250-$1000; Very important.  Research some boards and find out whats best for you.

    Bindings-$100-$400(?); Very important.

Boots- $80-$400; Extremely important.  Buy a pair of boots that fit you perfectly.  Make sure they are extremely stiff and comfortable.  If you don't do this, your whole experience could be ruined.

Jacket- $120-?; Very important.  It is a must that you stay warm.  If you have a fleece, just buy a one-layer jacket and you'll be fine.  If you wanna blow the money on an actual "snow jacket", then make sure it's one with two or three layers.  And you may be able to find better deal on the net, I'm not sure.

    Snow pants-$120-?; See above

Gloves- $25-$70; Important.  Get a pair of Gore-Tex gloves from Big 5 that are water-resistant  for $25 and you'll be fine.

Socks- $15; Very important.  Don't skip these, just drop the extra cash.  It's worth it.

Goggles-$35-$350; Important.  Sometimes you need them sometimes you don't.  It's better to be caught with them than withouth them.  Buy a pair of 100% UV protected goggles with anti-fog and an amber tint.

Beanie- $10-?;Semi-important.  I only find these important when it's extremely cold out.  I always just end up taking mine off from being too warm.  They're always good to have just in case though.

So as you can see, there's a lot you need, and most of it isn't cheap.  Luckily, there are some good package deals that will allow you to knock most of this out with a discount.

    Good luck!

  4. On my second year i had really nice gear passed from my bro

it must of all cost a fortune

when i outgrew everything i had to buy my own stuff

i made it buy with barely spending any money and i had just as fun time going then as i did with nice gear

  5. and after all of those expenses, you'll probably want a pass so you dont have to pay every time. if you buy in the summer you can usually find one for $400 or so.

  6. its expensive to get the right gear.

it really depends where you plan on going with it.

if you are planning on progressing to a decent level, and plan on going up a decent amount, then I would recommend getting decent gear, which will cost you around $1000.  You can get it cheaper if you buy the stuff when it goes on sale though.

If you are only going to go up a few times a year, and will just cruise down the greens and blues, then you can get away with those cheap package deals from no-name companies.

I know once I got the basics of snowboarding down, I fell in love with the sport, and didn't want to do anything else.  So watch out, it may happen to you too!  and then you will wish you bought decent gear :)
