Im going to study for a B.S. in social work, what are the pros and cons?

I'm planning on finishing the career and getting a job in the state of Florida, is this recommended? Any social workers out ther who live in florida is the pay good?

  1. With a BSW you will make more than Bee with her BA in psych.    It is best to look at a BSW as the first half of an MSW.  So you can apply for Advanced Standing in most MSW programs.  Social work is a diverse field with lots of opportunities and flexibility.  The con's is that most people don't understand the profession of social work (they have a narrow view point - often misguided).  As for a job with the state in FL.  State jobs can pay very well.

  2. I live in TX and I got a BA in Psychology. The pro: if you're passionate, your career can be extremely rewarding. The con: the pay is not that good. Don't expect your salary to be amazing. You will have to have a MSW to get decent pay but it still wont make you rich.
