  1. If you bring a laptop, you can have it loaded with any program for a ridiculously low price. Just bring it to a computer store and tell them what you want and they will load it for you.

You can also buy software in various places for about a dollar a disc. Only about half of them have worked for me. Usually the games and language programs work and some others. If you don't have a laptop, ask at a computer store if they will sell you a cd of the program you want. You'll probably have better luck than buying a disc at the market. The last time I had my laptop loaded, I got about a thousand dollars worth of software for 20 dollars (including microsoft office pro and adobe photoshop)

As far as clothes go, you can probably find knock-offs of any label. I have dozens of Polo and Izod shirts that my wife paid a few dollars each for. If you want the "real" fashions, they are very expensive at shops like Diamond Plaza in Saigon.

    Enjoy your trip.

  2. Yes, but they're fakes, so don't buy those!!

  3. it really depends on where your at in vietnam. siagon should have the stuff your looking for.

  4. I dont know about the software stuff. Maybe..there are computer stores everywhere. The CDs are a bit if-y though. As for the clothes, if you go to the town markets such as Saigon Square or Saigon Market ect. ect. the venders sell fake hollister and abercrombie clothes. Well most are fake anyway, some are actually real because hollister and abercrombie makes their clothes in vietnam and the workers sometimes can take the defects and sell them or some employers actually steal them from the factory. But thats about all I know. Also, if you buy them I think you can bargain for a lower price. Good luck. =)

  5. If you want to get free software you also can do this from home. The usent is full of free software. it is anonymous to download and you get everything you want. That's also usually the way those guys getting software from. Here the link for the music, movie and software dowwnload: http://filme-musik-software-highspeeddow...

  6. software: yes

    white wash cloth: no

  7. Not really. They are very far behind. It is like the 60's to them there. They are very far behind us.

  8. You can get the latest software, dirt cheap - but the CDs/DVDs may not work, and they may be in Vietnamese, and customs when you return may seize them when you hit your final destination.

While I did not go looking, friends and acquaintances in Ha Noi talked about finding designer label clothing in shops for very cheap prices - they may have been seconds, they may have been phony, or they may have been legit merchandise. If you are going to Ha Noi, there is a big upscale shopping arcade - Vincom Towers, downtown.

There is SO MUCH you can buy in Viet Nam that you can't even find in the west - it would be a terrible waste to buy what you can get at home.

  9. There has to be adobe photoshop and Microsoft word, Shopping for cloths on the other hand are wayyyy different from here. there is NO abercrombie, hollister, or AE cloths. I hope you  have fun there!

  10. No!!! Just Nike and nock-offs! Vietnam manufactures somethings. But don't trust anything for the real thing. Everything is imitation.

Especially, computer programs/software. You can't even buy a legit music cd... really! It's true.

Shopping is the only thing you can do! But it's can be tiresome. You must haggle for everything. There are a lot of souveniers, the only thing you can buy. You are lucky if you can find that one KFC's. So... looking for AE and ambercombie...? You can find cute clothes for sure... and maybe if you are lucky, abercrombie imitations..

Have fun there! It's hot and sticky. Oh! and the hottest air/breeze just as you are leaving the airport. Be warned! The airport is not the best representation of this country.
