And to be completely honest, I have no idea what to write about. I know somewhere I will include support but that's all I have in mind.

Any tips or ideas on writing to soldiers? Is there such a thing as a "bad" letter and what would that include?

  1. So you're writing a random Soldier? Good for you!!!

I'd say there's no bad things.

Start out by telling them about yourself, who you are, what you do, what you look like. Then tell him/her what's going on in your life. Then eventually why you write him/her and how much you appreciate what he does!!!

    Good luck!!! And thank you!!!

EDIT: Sure send pictures...send whatever you want!!! :)

  2. First, is this a soldier you know? I am assuming no because I don't think that would be as hard. I am an Army wife and trust me the only bad letters they get are the kinda that say "I am sleeping with your best friend". I guess the best things to tell him would be some of you interests and things you like doing. Ask him about what he wishes he could do if he was home. Ask him about his family and what his plans are after he gets out of the military. Don't ask about the fighting. Even if he could tell you, he wouldn't want to. If you are willing to make a bit of a commitment, ask if he needs or wants anything. A lot of the time they miss special snacks and things they can't get over there. If you feel like it, send some baked cookies or something. I know that those things are always appreciated. Also, you could include some newspaper clipping from the area he is from. They get CNN and Fox news but not a lot of local info. I hope this helps. Thanks for writing. They love to get letters.

  3. Go for it! News from "Home" is Always appreciated! Tell Him/Her alittle about yourself; mention stuff like how expensive Gas has gotten, or how the Election is going, or about something that's going "on" in the Country that interests you... But MOST of all, tell Him that you decided to write to Him because you were THINKING about people like Him over in Iraq- & that you thought He might like to KNOW that... ... Afterall, when you're fighting in a Land far away from Home- it really IS "the thought that counts" when someone sends a Letter...  :)
