i wana kno wat type of decor and stuff like that i should have, seeing as to how i have never been to a prom, my party is gona b a dance party so im getting a dj, and it gona b in a ballroom. Please help me i wana have the best party of the 2008-2009 8th grade year.

Hall experience:

We just had a sweet 16 so I can help you here.  Shop around, you can find a nice place cheap.  Go on google and search for banquet halls, banquet facilities, halls in your area.  Also, you can call your local recreation centers and local parks because they usually have rooms to rent.  Also, hotels and bowling alleys have halls and no you dont have to bowl.  Questions to ask are the price, the hours, decorating rules because some dont let you and have strict rules, ask if you can bring your own food it because some dont let you, many make you get catering from them and ask if they do ask if you can get just appetitizers unless you want to pay for a meal which can be expensive.  Some places won't let you bring your own cake in and have to buy it from them.  Also a hall on a Sunday is 1/2 the price than on a Friday or Sat.  So, after you call and get the answers you are interested in then go check them out.  Also, ask how early you can be there to start decorating?

DJ:  

Make sure you get a contract from your DJ and make sure they have lights and a microphone.  Call alot and ask these questions and for prices.  You can find cheap ones.  You can go on Craig's List Website for your city, click on services and in the search bar type in DJ and some will pop up or better yet if you know someone else you used one use them.  Once you find a DJ, make him/her a list of songs you and your friends will love to dance to and include some group songs like electric slide so they can get your songs prepared for your party.

You might want to consider balloon decorations:

This arch is big and makes is 150 bucks.  It comes unassembled and you put it together at the dance floor.

Have a big table in the front with a pretty table skirt that matches your colors and drape the personalized banner across the front of that.  Then if you can get the arch I mentioned above or find a like one from stumps prom or Andersons prom.

APPETIZERS:

We just had our sweet 16 and had to use a caterer in order to get the hall but you can make everything yourself. We had 45 people.

We ordered a fruit tray, cheese tray, veggie tray, taco dip and chips and silver dollar sandwich rolls.

No one touchede the veggie tray. The cheese tray was 1/3 eaten. The taco tip went over great and had to be restocked twice, the fruit tray went over great, and the silver dollar rolls went over great. They were ham, turkey and beef. These are hand size and perfect and I saw the rolls for this at the grocery store.

Anyway, so if I were you I would make a small cheese tray, make a double batch or taco dip, and have a good fruit tray and make the silver dollar rolls.

These are all simple to put together.

Taco Dip:

2 softened cream cheese.

1 16oz sour cream

1 packet taco seasoning.

Mix with mixer. Put in bottom of a cookie sheet. Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and green onions. Use the cheese but you can altered the rest to your taste, maybe add black olives. Make 2 of these. Serve with tostitos scoops.

Fruit bowl,.

Whole pineppple into chunks. Slice strawberries. Add whole table grapes no seeds, add chunks of watermelon, and cut oranges in slices cut into triangles. This is best made the night before so that the juices can all run together and stir before serving.

It is just shaved deli meat and cheese triangles. You dont have to put lettuce on them, ours did not have it. t. The ones that we had catered just had real butter on them and they had mayo and mustard packets on ice on the side.

puppy chow:

PUPPY CHOW

6 cups Crispix cereal

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup butter

12 ounce chocolate chips

2 cups powdered sugar

Melt peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips together in the microwave or on the stove. Stir into cereal. Put powdered sugar in a paper sack. Put cereal mixture in and shake until well coated.

The girl that answered above had some good answers! Well first of all make sure your invitations include tickets or are the tickets with the info on them when entering your party they have to saw someone their tickets to get it.

Have the hall decorated with streamers and ballons also if you have the money what they did at my prom was they hung tulle from the celling and put twinkle lights on top of them so when you looked up it sparkeled it was really dreamy and pretty.

For Baloons you could tie a whole bunch togther and hang them in bunches and then twist two colors of streamers together and hang them.

I also agree with hanging stars and such.

Have a place set up to take pictures! That is a must at Prom! Maybe have someone (Family or Friend) be the photographer and then have them get them developed during or after the prom and give them to the guest.

It really depends on what the ballroom already looks like

You will definatly need centerpieces which and easy and inexspenisve way would be to have a glass bowl filled with water with floating candels in them you could have fake or real rose petals in the color skeem scatterd on the talbe tops or you could aslo use confetti or those glass beads you can put in fish tanks.

You might want to have a favor for everyone to take home we did at our prom we got a picture frame that said prom 2007 it wouldn't have to be a picture frame though

You also should have punch bowl or fountain, chocolate fountain, marshemellow, fruits and pretzels to dip into it.

Of corse your friends will have to dress up nice make be you guys could get together before hand to do hair and makeup

The Dj and Dancing will be the main part of your entertainment so maybe you should have some strobe light etc...

Also You should have your friend vote and see who is prom qween and king and give them a crowns!
