  1. What I do when I know we may be noisy and disturb my neighbors, is go to their home and inform them (face to face) we're having a party and could get loud, please don't hesitate to call me and let me know if we get too loud for you.  They have always been very nice and said not to worry.

I think when you show that you are trying to be considerate of their noise level they appreciate it, and it gives them a little power too.

  2. yea! invite your neighbors then turn the music down by 11!!  Good luck!!

  3. as long this hasn't been a continuous issue for you and you neighbor i feel by communicating with them will go a long way....if they know ahead of time that this is just a one time party then unless they are just miserable for real it shouldn't be a issue with them ....enjoy your music but keep in mind to be respectful of your neighbors especially after the midnight hour....also make sure your party attenders do not become unruly and loud because that is just as annoying as loud music...happy 40th to hubby :)

  4. 10 pm is a normal cut off time.... why not invite your neighbors ( in person)? then there wont be a fuss about the noise.

  5. You could ask around and see if you could hire a bar for the night which is located quite far away from other people's homes. Most bars have a music system installed. Or you could even hire a church or village hall. They're usually pretty big. If not you would have to turn the music down at about 11pm because neighbours will be trying to get to sleep then.

For my Dad's 40th party (I'm still a kid :]  ) we went to a place called 'The Ski Village' in Sheffield. They had a bar there and my Mum secretly asked if we could hire it out for the night for a special birthday party. They said we could have it for sure.

On the night one of Dad's best friends invited him to go skiing (he was in on the plan). After they had finished they deliberately walked back through the bar where my Mum had hidden at least 50 people behind a curtain. We all jumped out and shouted "Happy Birthday!" and my Dad had no idea it was going to happen!!! It turned out to be the best party ever!  (So far...)   ; )

  6. Invite the neighbours, that way they can't complain. Kill the volume after half eleven going up midnight to save a visit from the boys in blue.

  7. it varies, its a city ordinance. I would call your local non emergency police station and ask them

  8. Yeh tell you're neighbours. Tell them its going to be a one-timer, most probably. Tell them that you will have fun, and maybe invite them to the party?

they can't be too sad about this. Look its you're hubby's 40TH! Thats kinda special.

  9. invite your neighbors to come over, and at the same time inform them that it going to be a blast, and that you other half only turn 40 once in this life time, so as long as he having fun it may run over into the the early morning.

  10. ask your neighbours how they feel about the music being loud till late.

  11. 10pm in California.

  12. noise laws are different depending on where you live. here its 10pm but in my neighborhood no one says anything if it goes later... just wait til the cops show up! the worst that could happen is they say turn it down and maybe maybe if they want to be jerks write you a ticket.
