Non of my friends are Indian or anything, so we don't have saris or dupattas, what is a good idea of what they can wear to my party that still follows the indian theme? I don't want them to have to spend money, i just want everyone to seem festive!

  1. if they dont have anything to wear then they are either going to have to borrow from someone or spend a little money. If you go to a cheap fabric place and get a metre of bright and colourful material - should only cost a few dollars, then they can drape the material around their body, just as indian women do. they can wear their casual clothes underneath. Watch bend it like beckham or bollywood to get a rough idea of colours and how to drape the material

  2. sorries [ ? ] arents expensive. it might be spelled sarie but its pronounced sorry. they are like pretty curtains :) hope i helped good luckk

  3. Just look at some saris and get some inevepnsive pants and design your self cause most saris r gillter buttons take ideas n put them to use. Watch old bollywood movies and they have soundtracts now. If its and indian theme for the food 1st here r drinks

    Fruits Drink

    2 bananas

    3 peaches

    1 cup yogurt

    1 cup chilled milk

    Method :

Peel the bananas and cut the small pieces bananas and peaches.

Grind the both fruits in the mixer.

Add low fat yogurt and again grind, you can mix chilled milk and sugar.

    Serve chilled.

    Strawberry Milk shake

    250 gms fresh strawberry

    1 litre fresh milk

    Sugar as per taste

    Strawberry ice cream

    Method :

Wash the strawberry and chop it finely.

In a blender put the strawberry, sugar and a cup of milk. Blend it to a smooth paste.

Add the rest of the milk and blend it once again.

Strain it with a mesh into a large jar. Let this cool at least 2 hours.

Serve it in tall glasses with a scoop of strawberry ice-cream.

for the food chicken is always liked

    Ingredients :

2-2.5 pounds of chicken cut into pieces

    3 tbsp of pepper powder

    3-4 flakes of garlic paste

A small piece of ginger paste

    Some dry coconut

    unsalted butter

    A few sticks of cinnamon.

    Some cloves

    A few cardomom seeds

    2 small tomatoes

    2-3 tsp coriander powder

    2 Medium onions

    1 tsp chilli powder

    A little haldi powder

1 tsp cumin seeds powder Coriander leaves to garnish

    Salt to taste

    Method :

Smear 2 tbsp of pepper powder and salt on the chickenpieces.

Pierce the chicken pieces with a fork and let the chicken marinate for a few hours.

Heat some butter (you can also use oil!)in a pan and fry the chicken pieces one by one.

Not deep fry, just like frying onions. Keep the fried chicken pieces aside.

In the same oil (butter) you used to fry the chicken, now fry the sliced onions, cardomom, ginger, garlic, cloves and cinammon.

When the onions are brown, add the coriander powder, chilli powder, haldi, cumin powder and fry for 1½ minutes.

Add the coconut and tomatoes and keep frying. Do not add water.

Now add the remaining pepper powder (around 1 tbsp) and fry for a minute.

Now add water, enough to get a thick paste. Drop the fried chicken pieces into the gravy and you can add water to make it into a thin gravy.

Add salt to taste. Boil for 10 minutes, till chicken is well mixed with the pepper masala. Garnish with coriander leaves. Eat hot with rice and enjoy.

or find a place near where u live or google if there is a lil india and make a day out of it

  4. I recon some hip scarfs would be great.  You could make them yourself for reasonably cheap.  You just need a triangular piece of colourful fabric and sew on a few sequens or large flat beads.  http://www.gypsyderose.com/013105-Tri-Co...

Apart from that just get everyone to come in colourful clothes - nothing dull or pastel!
