make sure all cleaners and poisons are locked away or up high

any wires or anything hanging out should not be

heaters or fires should have a guard around them

have a smoke free house

a clean house eg do the vacuming and make sure the bathroom bedrooms toliet and kitchen are clean

Have your kitchen and bathroom spotless and the other rooms neat and as clean as you can make it with a dust rag and a vacuum cleaner.  Make up your bed.  Make sure you have some fruit and vegetables in the frig as well as milk and bread.  Be neat and clean yourself with your hair combed.  Be courteous to the inspector and not hostile, he is doing his job which is to make sure the child is in a safe and pleasant home.  Your home does not have to  be rich and full of stuff, just clean and welcoming.  If you have any toys around for the child, put them neatly in a place where a child would be likely to reach them.  And most of all, be relaxed and not stressed out by the inspection.  Good luck.
