Im having a luau birthday party, what kind of food is easy to make and goes with it?

i am going to bbq on the grill, chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, but what kinds of sides and stuff?

A big fruit salad (heavy on the tropical fruits:  pineapple, mango, papaya, banana, guava) .....  

HAWAIIAN COLE SLAW

3 c. shredded cabbage

1 c. crushed pineapple, drained

1 c. sour cream

2 T. sugar

1 T. vinegar

2 T.  mayonnaise

salt & pepper to taste

      Mix cabbage and pineapple.   Mix other ingredients (dressing).  Add to cabbage and mix well...

MACADAMIA NUT BARS

1/2 c. butter

2 c. brown sugar

2 eggs

1 t. vanilla

2 c. flour

1/4 tsp. salt

2 tsp. baking powder

2 c. chopped macadamia nuts

      In large saucepan, melt butter over low heat.  Stir in sugar and heat until bubbly; cool.  To cooled sugar, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.  Stir in vanilla, dry ingredients and 1-1/2 c. nuts.  Mix thoroughly.  Spread in shallow, greased 10x15" pan.  Sprinkle remaining nuts on top.  Bake at 350 for 20-25 min.  Cool, cutting into bars when slightly warm......Makes 60 bars

I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon last year and the luau was our favorite part! Traditionally, they dig a hole in the ground and roast a pig, but a bbq sounds like an awesome idea (not to mention more sanitary lol).

Sweet potato casserole, Grilled pineapple, baked bananas or bananas foster.  Pina colada cake, & coconut ice cream.

Boil 6 sweet potatos, cool, peel and mix with 2 tbls sp. of butter, 1 tblsp of vanilla and i can of coconut pecan frosting mix, (like for german chocolate cake), put in 9x13 pan and bake 30 min at 350; add mini marshmallows at the last 5 min.

Pina colada cake, use coconut milk for the liquid, and instant banana pudding mix with any yellow or white cake mix.  Make a frosting of coolwhip, drained crushed pineapple and marshmallow whip.

For the pineapple, buy one cored in a plastic tub, drain the pineapple and leave whole, add grenadine and honey tot eh pineapple and marinate, then grill in one piece until browned,

Serve cake with a piece of pineapple on it & topped with the ice cream.

omg how cool i had a luau party and it was a blast i had so many decoration and foods.. we did hamburgers and hotdogs, for drinks we had shirley temples with hula straws we had fruit deserts it was awesome. good luck and have fun!
