A great theme would be an Hawaiian Luau themed pool party.  This theme is fun and festive and goes great for pool parties during the summer. You can have everyone wear leis (or hand them out..they are cheap), maybe add some floating palm trees, dolphins, or candles and flowers, play some nice music, server mai tais or another tropical drink and put little toothpick unbrellas in everything.  You can even put up tiki lights in the yard or around the pool area.  Another idea is serve fruit kabobs (different kinds of fruit on a stick and place the sticks into a whole pineapple as a holder and decoration...very nice).  One thing that I did at my luau is make some life sized surf boards out of wood and paint them in bright colors.  It also makes a great photo op.  Luaus are so much fun and the options are endless.  You can  find luau themed decorations at your local party store or shop online.  Just think topical and Hawaii and you can come up with lots of ideas on your own too.  Be original.  A great website for ideas or just buying party decor online is http://www.orientaltrading.com  I get their brochures all the time and they have alot of neat ideas and themed party decor.  The prices are great and they usually have alot of tropical/pool party decor.

Another fun option that you may like is a Vegas/Millionaire/High Roller  themed pool party.  You can decorate like Vegas with dollar signs, cash flowing, fake gold and bling.  Get everyone to kinda pre-swim dress up like they are a high roller.  You can serve martinis (or fake ones like sprite in a martini glass) on floats in the pool and everyone can feel like James Bond.  Serve fancy appetizers (or just make everything LOOK fancy and expensive).  You can also string some white lights or chinese lanterns around the pool area.  I saw this theme on MTV once and it was awesome.  

Or you could put another twist on it and theme it more Playboy themed with some of the same ideas.
