  3. Being your Birthday's in December you can do a Winter Wonderland theme.

What you can do is get some white fabric and bunch it and have it go from the middle of the ceiling to the corners of the room if you can get fabric that's shimmery.  Then in the fabric mix in some clear, stringed Christmas lights which would look SO pretty and hang snowflakes at varying heights from the ceiling.  If you hang them with fishing wire, you won't be able to see the wire holding them and it will disappear into the fabric.  The ceiling will have the white puffiness of the fabric and the lights. Then you'll have the snowflakes falling from different heights.  After the holidays and even before right after Thanksgiving you can get the clear lights on sale everywhere so they won't be expensive at all and the snowflakes you can get at the party store and even make.  You can make them with paper and dip them in silver glitter like they're glistening.  The fabric you can check for sales on at JoAnn's, etc.  You can even check for when linens are on sale and do that, no one would know the difference!

You can also have the lights all around the party area to give it a nice festive mood and then go to the crafts store and get that cotton batting/filling and put that around the room in corners etc, and put some silver glitter in it and it will look like glistening snow.

You can even do dark blue to accent the party are and instead of having white on the ceiling you can do a deep blue which would look really pretty with the lights and the snowflakes and then do deep blue tablecloths with silver napkins.  You can do the accents in silver.  Have all the tablecloths in deep blue, then the napkins in a shimmery grey or silver.

Then you can get some tulle and tie it around each chair, making the bow in the back of the chair.  You can add some blue ribbon to each one to make it match the tablecloth.

You can get some white styrofoam balls and spray paint them white with a tinge of the silver and have them be the snow balls around the party.  Make sure to have lots of the cotton batting around to be the snow.  You can have it in corners on the floor etc, Just don't make it where people walk, you don't want anyone tripping on it and falling.

You can also do all white balloons or white and deep blue balloons and some in a silver grey which would look really pretty.

If you don't want to do that you can take your favorite color and make it a monochromatic theme.  You can make it tones of your favorite color.  If your favorite color is pink, you can do different tones of pink for the balloons, tablecloths, napkins, etc.   You can add some white to break it up a little and just go with the different tones of the same color palette.

You can do a morraccan theme.  Which is deep purples, blues, pinks, fushia, etc.  Lots of cushions and low seating having lanterns etc.

I wouldn't do a Christmas theme, I would leave the holiday separate, it's your Birthday and you should celebrate your Birthday as the holiday that it is and not Christmas.  Unless you love Christmas and want it as your theme I would do your own party and have your own theme.  I know some people say to pick Christmas because it's in December, but I would do something different and let Christmas be the holiday that it is and your Birthday be your Birthday.

You can do a sit down dinner party.  Set up everything in a formal way and do everything formal and pick the menu that YOU like with your favorite foods from appetizers to dessert and have a sit down dinner.

-You can do a Hollywood theme

-Dress up as your favorite person/star/etc

    -A Night in Tuscany

    -Under the moon and stars

    -Sweets and treats

    -Masquerade Ball

    -Beach Party

-Pick 2 colors and go with that like black and white, pink and red, etc.

    -Bubbles

    -Diamonds

    -Remember when 50s, 60s, 70s. 80s, 90s,

-Do the party theme as the year you were born go with things that were popular!

-You can go with the theme of your birthstone color and then do the birthstone as your theme

    -Princes and Princesses

-My favorites and base the party around your favorite things.  Music, colors, food, etc

I hope these help and that you have a great party and a very Happy Sweet 16!

  5. My theme was Mardi Gras.

Depends on how cliche you want to be.. and what your personal style is..

    - Luau is always popular with fun colors and leis.

    - Vegas/Casino is fun and flashy

    - Hollywood would be easy with a fun red carpet entrance

    - Winter Wonderland as your bday is in Dec.

I'd recommend a Black and White Party - we did this for New Year's a couple years ago and it was a blast. Decorations were cheap and easy to find. No one complained about the dress code because everyone owns black and white clothes. We did balloon and streamers, had all of the plates, table clothes and cups black and white, and eventhough we spent barely anything, you'd thought we'd broke the bank with how much it all came together. We threw in some silver here and there to make it a little flashy.

It appeals to all ages and can be as fun as you want to make it.

For yourself you can buy a really fun dress like zebra print or do black and white with some really neat shoes (I did black and white with zebra print shoes). You could get some black and white disposable cameras.

It's a simple theme but you can take it anywhere. And it's also not too girly for the guys that attend.

    Have fun! Happy Birthday!
