you can have a safari theme (tan clothes with the hat, etc.) or a survivor theme (as in dressing as a shipwrecked person) or a beach party theme or a color theme (where they have to wear that color)

why don't you make it an end of the world party and encourage people to dress in a costume.  Come as your demise.  You could have cases of water stacked up and print out the radiation sign to put on the walls.  Or arrows pointing toward the basement (if you have one) as Fall Out Shelter this way.
