my sking is:

very fair

blotchy

DRY (so when i put on foundations it never looks smooth because you can see it peeling and flaking)

I tried mineral makeup, it helped the redness but you could see my skin peeling and flaking

tinted moisturizer made my skin sticky (and you could see the peeling)

plain foundation clogged my pores and made me break out. plus after an hour of wearing it my skin was starting to flake and peel.

help!!!!!!!!!

  1. Go to a dermatologist and see what they recommend for the splotchiness and peeling. Try Prescriptives. They can custom blend your foundation. A little expensive but it lasts and is worth it.

  2. Get a very thick moisturizer for your face to help the peeling. Apply before you apply your foundation, then use a lite foundation with sunblock in it. After apply a loose powder to take away the "stickiness" of the foundation.

  3. Well it sounds like you're not using the right cleanser or moisturiser. Make sure you buy a cleanser and moisturiser with no alcohol. Buy a very rich moisturiser, maybe try cetaphil, its very inexpensive and soap free. Then buy nivea young tinted moisturiser, it's oil free and looks very natural, it doesn't make your skin sticky either. Just make sure you don't use any harsh products, and use a moisturising mask once a week. Another option is getting a facial, they can tell what products help your skin, and they can recommend a good foundation.

  4. You can exfoliate w/ a gentle cleanser like "Purpose, " mixed with a bit of white table sugar. Just don't scrub too hard. Rinse well...then...

    A. Use Clinique DDM-"gel" moisturizer - it's wonderful and not sticky or oily.

    B. Use either Cover Girl TruBlend - or - Prescriptives Virtual Matte.

    C.  Powder:  Maybelline shine free

Those work great for me! :)

  5. you can go to Sephora and they will help you find a foundation that is perfect for you :3

  6. I think you should stick with a mineral foundation, you just need to find the right one. I just think they are really healthy for your skin, but stay away from Bare Minerals because I hear it clings to dry spots. You need to try using a moisturizer for very dry skin, like Ponds Moisturizer. But this on directly before you put on your foundation and use a generous amount. They say that if you put on lotion and your face goes right back to how it felt before you put it on, your not applying enough.  Physicians Formula has really good makeup, you should try it.

  7. Yeah I would suggest going to Macy's and have one of the makeup booths pick out one that is best for your issues.  It will be better quality make-up than what you see at drugstores and there will be more shades that could match.  It may be more, but you won't have to buy more than 1 to get it to match.

  8. More importantly, I think before you focus on foundation you should try to improve your skin. See a dermatologist and get advice, then you'll have better skin! If you still want foundation it should be easier to find one that works and it will look that much better. :)
